    1. Thanks for all that, Erika. The interview with Kate Gale was very interesting. So is Ron Carlson now one of those mid-list authors that can’t publish with a major press? How depressing! But I’m glad for him and for us that Red Hen is publishing him. It sounds like a solid organization.

        Hi, John. Thanks, as always, for your comment. Carlson may be published by multiple presses. I think the novel that was published this summer came from Viking.

      Just wanted to take a minute to thank you for keeping the Practicing Writing flame alive on top of every thing else you do. I don’t have a chance to look at everything you post, but at least once, I glance, and am led down a path to something useful to my own work. I just ordered a copy of Ron Carlson. I’ve heard about him for years and never read his work in depth, just as story here and there. I now own his craft book on writing fiction and a collection of stories.
