Writing-related resources, news, and reflections to enjoy over the weekend.
Casey N. Cep debunks “The Myth of the Artist’s Creative Routine”: “There is no secret ingredient to artistic success; no magic routine for producing art.”
On the Grub Daily blog, Ethan Gilsdorf shares “five tips to get that op-ed out of your head and into the headlines.”
Stephanie Vanderslice celebrates the publishing success of one of her first (and evidently favorite!) students.
One of the moments I appreciate in this interview with Akhil Sharma (whose Family Life I am now reading) is Sharma’s acknowledgment of a difference between the terms “immigrant writing” and “immigrant writer” (my emphasis). This kind of distinction is one I’ve argued for before.
I’m eager to read my subscription copy of the April/May Poets & Writers magazine when it arrives–looks as though there’s quite a bit about writing contests within–but in the meantime, I’m perusing some of the issue content that’s already available online.
Happy weekend!
