Words of the Week, III

From Chloe Valdary, “To the Students for Justice in Palestine, a Letter From an Angry Black Woman,” Tablet magazine:
“You do not get to pretend as though you and Rosa Parks would have been great buddies in the 1960s. Rosa Parks was a real Freedom Fighter. Rosa Parks was a Zionist.”

From Ilan Ben Zion, “Rockets Found in U.N. School, for Third Time,” The Times of Israel:
“A UN aid agency for Palestinian refugees said Tuesday that a stockpile of Hamas rockets was found in one of UNRWA’s Gaza schools — for the third time since the onset of Operation Protective Edge.

The incident, however, was not publicized by UNRWA on its website or official Twitter feed, or that of its spokesperson.”

From Bret Stephens, “Palestine Makes You Dumb,” The Wall Street Journal (I read a paper copy today; if I can find a link that produces the full text, I will share it):
“Let’s get this one straight. Israel is culpable because (a) it won’t accept a Palestinian government that includes a terrorist organization sworn to the Jewish state’s destruction; (b) it won’t help that organization out of its financial jam; and (c) it won’t ease a quasi-blockade—jointly imposed with Egypt—on a territory whose central economic activity appears to be building rocket factories and pouring imported concrete into terrorist tunnels.

This is either bald bald moral idiocy or thinly veiled bigotry. It mistakes effect of cause, treats self-respect as arrogance and self-defense as aggression, and makes demands of the Jewish state that would be dismissed out of hand anywhere else. To argue the Palestinian side, in this war, is to make the case for barbarism. It is to erase, in the name of humanitarianism, the moral distinction from which the concept of humanity arises.”

From Tablet’s staff, “Top Secret Hamas Command Bunker in Gaza Revealed: And Why Reporters Won’t Talk About It”:
“The answer is that reporters write what they can, and some do their job better than others, and some are braver or more foolhardy than their peers. But it’s the job of editors, sitting thousands of miles away, at a very safe remove from the battlefield, to note that dispatches were produced under pressure, or that key information was removed by a government—as nearly all mainstream media outlets do when battlefield dispatches pass through the hands of the IDF censor. A good editor might attach similar notes to dispatches from combat zones controlled by terrorist organizations. He or she might also decide that reporting only the news that Hamas deems fit to print from Shifa Hospital isn’t actually reporting at all: It’s propaganda.”

Erika, thank you for posting about the current war. Please don’t stop.
The enemies of the Jewish state understand how to use and manipulate media. You are doing Israel a great service by pointing out through your re-posts of various articles, exactly how this is done.
