Friday Finds for Writers

Treasure Chest
Writing-related resources, news, and reflections to enjoy over the weekend.

  • Probably my favorite piece in the current Poets & Writers magazine: Michael Taeckens’s interview with book critic Dwight Garner.
  • Food for thought from Jane Friedman: “10 Resolutions for a Saner Internet—and Life.”
  • ICYMI–it’s already been all over the Internet–here’s a terrific piece by Curtis Sittenfeld on “24 Things No One Tells You About Book Publishing.”
  • New blog I’m following (you’ll see it in the blogroll to the right): Poetry Has Value, in which Jessica Piazza will share what goes on now that she has decided “to spend the next whole year submitting poetry ONLY to paying journals and markets, and recording what happens in this blog.” She has “also decided to use this space to simultaneously explore deeper questions of poetry’s value and worth (monetary or otherwise.)”
  • Apologies to those of you following my other blog for the cross-post, but I can’t resist sharing the January issue of the Fig Tree Books newsletter (yes, I’m the newsletter editor). Read on for news about FTB’s upcoming releases and ongoing giveaways.
  • Enjoy the weekend, everyone.
