Midweek Notes from a Practicing Writer

A Passover Poem (and Its Postscript)

Dayenu

Above, you’ll see a poem that was published for the first time three years ago. The current Passover holiday has inspired me to add a postscript, which you can read over on my other blog.

Poetry Month Prompts & Poems

Not to jinx myself, but I actually have been drafting a new poem each day during this National Poetry Month. (I can’t believe it, either!) A huge help in this endeavor: C.A. LaRue’s incredibly generous daily round-up posts, which include links to an array of prompt resources along with other great material.

I’ve also (miraculously!) managed to read two poetry collections in recent days: LeslĂ©a Newman’s I Carry My Mother (which I wrote about, again, for the My Machberet blog), and Jehanne Dubrow’s The Arranged Marriage, which I’d been meaning to read but finally purchased after reading Judy Bolton-Fasman’s coverage on The Forward‘s website.

AWP-bound

Like many of you, I suspect, I’m heading out to the Association of Writers & Writing Programs conference. It will be a brief trip, but since I’m taking off Friday morning, this will be my last blog post until I return. Hope you all have a great several days. To my “fellow travelers”: travel safely! See you all back here next week.

More cross-pollination! Thanks for the shout-out. I love to hear that people are getting good use out of my posts. Having all the prompts in one place makes it easier to find THE ONE that really speaks to you on any given day, and it keeps me accountable.

As I’ve said before, I find much inspiration on your site too. We seem to be on the same writerly wave-length. LOL. If I did not already have a twin, I would think we were separated at birth.

May G-d make your journey fruitful. Come and go safely.
