Monday Markets for Writers: No Fees, Paying Gigs

dollar-sign-mdMonday brings the weekly batch of no-fee competitions/contests, paying submission calls, and jobs for those of us who write (especially those of us who write fiction, poetry, and creative nonfiction).

  • By this time next week, the August issue of The Practicing Writer will have gone out to subscribers, and as usual, it will contain an abundance on information on upcoming no-fee contests and calls from litmags/presses that will pay you for your work. Never too late to subscribe!
  • The 2015 In Cahoots Collaboration Contest invites entries. Submissions must be created by 2 or more people. “All submissions must include a literary component but may include or be paired with a visual or audio component.” No entry fee. Prize: $50. Deadline: October 1, 2015.
  • “The Creative Writing Program at the University of Oregon welcomes applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor in Fiction for Winter and Spring terms (12/16/15-6/15/16). Requires M.F.A., Ph.D., or M.A. in Creative Writing. The successful candidate will have a significant record of publication (at least one book) and teaching experience in creative writing at the college level.” An adjunct instructor advertisement at the same institution has also been posted recently.
  • San Francisco State University is looking for a Poetry Center Director.
  • PEN American Center [New York] seeks to hire a Membership Engagement Coordinator. PEN is also advertising an Associate Editor position (literary journal and chapbook series).
