  • Ever wonder how authors might connect with book clubs? Tara Lynn Masih offers some advice.
  • “There are no interns or other readers here: every single poem sent to Poetry is read by an editor whose name is on the masthead. And we get about 150,000 poems a year!”—Don Share, quoted in a recent “Editors Talk” post on the Frontier Poetry site.
  • In “Back to School at 64,” Anne Rudig describes her experience in the Columbia University nonfiction program.
  • For me, the word “chapbook” most frequently evokes associations with poetry. But there was a session devoted to nonfiction chapbooks at the recent conference of the Association of Writers & Writing Programs (#AWP18). And Lisa Romeo has summarized it for the Assay website.

  • The latest issue of The Practicing Writer went out to subscribers this morning. So if you’re already subscribing to this free newsletter, please check your inbox! If you’re not, you can find the new issue online until the next one replaces it. And you can learn more about the newsletter and follow easy subscription instructions here.   • Following in a few others’ footsteps, I’m taking on a new habit: providing ultra-short “book reviews” of my current reading. I’m doing this mainly because now that I’m building up my book-publicist practice I’m really not doing much (any?) “official” reviewing. But I still want to share some thoughts about what I read. You’ll find them gathered here.
