Monday Markets for Writers

Monday brings the weekly batch of no-fee competitions/contests, paying submission calls, and jobs for those of us who write (especially those of us who write fiction, poetry, and creative nonfiction).

  • A River & Sound Review is open for submissions. “We pay upon publication: $25 for poetry, $50 for prose.” (via writingcareer.com)
  • ICYMI: The August issue of The Practicing Writer went out to subscribers last week. Plenty of no-fee competitions and paying calls (fiction, poetry, cnf) within.
  • From the University of Central Arkansas: “The Department of Writing invites applications for a non-tenure-track, visiting assistant professor position in creative writing for the 2013-2014 academic year.”
  • From the University of Virginia: “The Department of English, program in Creative Writing (fiction) invites applications from fiction writers of significant international stature for the position of Kapnick Distinguished Writer-in-Residence.”
  • Poets & Writers is looking for an Assistant Editor. Also noted: Poets & Writers has extended the application deadline for an online editorial fellowship to August 15.
  • Boston Review seeks an Associate Web Editor.
  • The Story Exchange (New York), “a media organization dedicated to telling the personal and professional stories of women who have started their own businesses, social enterprises and non-profits,” seeks a Social Media and Outreach Coordinator.
