  • Missed the opportunity-packed December issue of The Practicing Writer? You can find it online.
  • “Monkey Star Press is looking for NEW content for the anthology, Mom for the Holidays: Stories of Love, Laughter, and Tantrums at Christmas and Hanukkah. Personal essay/creative non fiction/flash memoir/poems/stories of 700-2000 words; must be told in the POV (point of view) of a mom or the POV of a child (a flashback, a childhood memory). This anthology is currently available on Amazon Kindle. We are looking for more content for the paperback edition TO BE RELEASED IN OCTOBER OF ***2016***.” Pays: “One free paperback copy of the anthology and compensation ranging from $25 to $200 (to be paid after publication based on a payment structure that is explained and outlined in the contract and payment terms doc that you sign).” Deadline: January 1, 2016.

The anthology will consist of short stories (flash fiction included), poetry, essays, artwork, or any other woman and/or feminist centered creative work….Compensation will be 100.00 per short story and/or non-fiction essays, 50.00 for flash, poetry, and photography/artwork. Interns contribute blog posts and feature articles for our online magazine, and will have the opportunity to assist the editorial staff with our new print magazine. The spring internships run from mid-January through Memorial Day at our offices in Manhattan.” Apply by December 14.

  • Also in New York: The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research is looking for a Publications Coordinator.
  • California State University Long Beach is advertising for an Assistant Professor of English, Creative Writing.
  • “The University of Wisconsin-Platteville invites applications for a tenure-track position as Assistant Professor of English in Writing and Editing beginning August 15, 2016.”
  • From Lesley University (Massachusetts): “The MFA Low-Residency Program in Creative Writing seeks a creative, innovative individual with significant professional accomplishment to serve as the Director. This is a 12-month permanent faculty appointment, at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank, with administrative and teaching responsibilities, beginning July 1, 2016.”
  • From the University of the West Indies: “Applications are invited for the post of LECTURER IN LITERATURES IN ENGLISH: CREATIVE WRITING.” NB: This appears to be a job for an MFA coordinator.
