Friday Finds for Writers

Treasure Chest
Writing-related resources, news, and reflections to enjoy over the weekend.

  • Over on The Millions, Nick Ripatrazone provides “20 Reasons Why You Should Read Literary Magazines.”
  • After three years and six rejections, Lisa Romeo has a byline in Brevity. Read her success story here (and be sure to read the bylined essay, too).
  • Take a few moments with the story of Annette Gendler’s book cover, “a lesson in not accepting no for an answer.”
  • I’m always on the lookout for writing prompts, so I’ll be checking in on the upcoming prompt-laden Poem-A-Day (PAD) Chapbook Challenge on Robert Lee Brewer’s Poetic Asides blog. (Even if I don’t get a chapbook out of it.)
  • I’m also always trying to learn more about social media, so I’m grateful for “Thinking of Running a Facebook Ad? Proceed with Caution,” a post by Martha Conway on Jane Friedman’s site (check the comments, too!).
  • Have a great weekend, everyone.
