Midweek Notes from a Practicing Writer

From My Archive: The U.S. Office of Government Ethics

Some of you have been hearing quite a bit lately about an executive-branch government agency called the U.S Office of Government Ethics (OGE). Here’s a fun fact that you might yet know: Once upon a time, I worked there.

Moreover, back when I was testing the freelancing waters for the first time in the 1990s, I wrote an article about my former workplace. (And I sold it to a local paper for college students.)

Since OGE is in the news anew, I thought that it might be worth digging up that old article from my archive.

Delightful News at the Day Job

Our team at Fig Tree Books is so happy to share a terrific new Publishers Weekly review for Abigail Pogrebin’s My Jewish Year: 18 Holidays, One Wondering Jew. The book will be out in March. (If you haven’t already put it on your Goodreads shelf, please do so–you can count on at least one more giveaway in the not-too-distant future.) Of course, the book is already available for pre-order as well. 😉

#PoetryHasValue

And my year of blogging for the #PoetryHasValue site has come to a close. I am grateful to Jessica Piazza for permitting me to participate and for posting my final update, which includes December and year-end 2016 statistics. But don’t worry—I’m maintaining similar stats on my own for 2016. And I just might be persuaded to post them right here on Practicing Writing….
