Midweek Notes from a Practicing Writer

It’s been a great week.

Presenting My First Poetry Collection

Yes, it’s unpublished. Yes, it may be incomplete (I was limited to 50 pages, maximum, for my upcoming summer workshop where it will be critiqued).

But IT EXISTS.

And My Latest Freelance Byline

The past week has also brought the publication of my latest freelance piece, a review-essay on Dorit Rabinyan’s All the Rivers (trans. Jessica Cohen). You can read it in full online, if you’re so inclined.

Assignment-in-Progress (and Still Other News)

Happily, I’m already at work on another book-related freelance assignment (one that was also finalized this past week). This new assignment requires a bit of interviewing, so I’ve spent a fair amount of time this past week joining the 21st century and getting accustomed to an app that will allow me to record said interview via my smartphone. Given how tech-challenged I am, the fact that I now feel even semi-comfortable with this app signifies a major achievement. (Of course, I could be deluding myself. But for the sake of my interviewee, and my article, let’s hope this modicum of confidence is warranted.)

But wait—there’s more! I’ve also had a poem accepted! And an essay-article! I’ll share more about those when they’re published.

(I guess that this makes up for my utter lack of a report last week!?)
