Midweek Update from a Practicing Writer

Accountability

If I tell you all that I’ve been struggling with an essay, and I promise to have a draft finished in time to tell you about that accomplishment next week…maybe I will actually make some progress?

Q&A with Yours Truly

My thanks to Barbara Bietz for inviting me to answer a few questions, which have now been posted (along with my responses) over on her website.

#JustRead

Yes, I’m still working on the September issue of The Practicing Writer (which will go out to subscribers late next week and will feature a Q&A with Matthew Zapruder). But I’m also thinking ahead to the October issue.

And that’s because over the weekend I finished reading an advance copy of Sophfronia Scott’s marvelous retelling of Dangerous Liaisons (her novel’s title: Unforgivable Love). And I’m trying to come up with some good questions for the Q&A we’re planning for that subsequent newsletter issue.

Stay tuned!

  1. Hi Erica
Everybody ha his own problems. I am writing my next book in Polish “Syberia”. It is not easy to write something dramatic and original. And still no proof reader for my manuscript in English “Isaac is Looking for a New Mother” (Holocaust short stories). In addition I am doing promotion and selling.
Now you know that you are not alone!

Oh, I know–we’re all in this together! Good luck!

I love accountability practices. So I’ll look in this spot next week for your “draft finished” update!
Meanwhile, I’ll state mine: to finally have ordered/bought a new computer (you have no idea how much procrastinating I can do when a writing-related action involves spending money ). Replacement is critical before my *IT guy* leaves (aka kid goes back to college).

Okay, Lisa! We’ll check each other!
