Writing-related resources, news, and reflections to peruse over the weekend.

  • “‘Three poetry editors at The Boston Review announced their intent to resign on Tuesday, citing disagreements with the magazine’s executive editors over their decision to retain Junot Díaz as fiction editor. In a statement issued earlier in the day, TBR executive editors Deborah Chasman and Joshua Cohen described a thorough process of reviewing their relationship with the writer, who has been an editor at the magazine since 2003. They concluded that, ‘On the basis of what we have learned, we have decided to continue our editorial relationship with Junot.'” (Publishers Weekly)
  • “Thinking Like an Editor: How to Order Your Poetry Manuscript” is a bookmarking-worthy article by April Ossmann that I missed when it was published in Poets & Writers. (Thanks to Diane Lockward’s newsletter for bringing it to my attention.)
  • Ten quotations on writing from the late, great Philip Roth (via The Writer magazine).
  • Over on Jane Friedman’s site, you’ll find advice on “What to Look for in a Book Publicist—Plus Tips for Going It Alone” (a guest post by Tanya Hall).
  • And remember: If it’s Friday, you’ll find a fresh set of #JewLit links over on My Machberet.
  • Have a great weekend!
