Pre-Shabbat Jewish Literary Links

Every Friday My Machberet presents an array of Jewish-interest links, primarily of the literary variety.

  • From the Jewish Review of Books: an interview with prominent translator Jessica Cohen (the conduit, for many of us, for so many essential works of Israeli literature).
  • Speaking of translation: Check out “A Moveable Shtetl,” the 2018 translation issue of the Yiddish Book Center’s Pakn Treger.
  • “Over the last several months, at least six online publications have launched with the aim of appealing to Jewish women, especially Orthodox women.” Shira Hanau reports for The Jewish Week.
  • One of those six publications is Jewess, where poet and musician Alicia Jo Rabins was featured earlier this week.
  • And to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Sydney Taylor Book Awards, the Association of Jewish Libraries will be hosting a family event at the Boston Public Library this Sunday, June 17th.
  • Shabbat shalom, everyone.
