Three quick things.

1. This lovely creation from John Sibley Williams arrived in the mail this week. (Yes, I’m working with John on publicity for As One Fire Consumes Another, his Orison Poetry Prize-winning collection forthcoming from Orison Books in April 2019—but he came up with this idea—and executed it—entirely on his own.)

I have asked John for advice on how to create something like this for myself. (Not that I’m publishing a poetry collection yet, but, as you all know, I have hope!) And, yes: I’m also encouraging him to write up a how-to article for publication.

2. I was sad to learn Monday morning of the passing of Walter Laqueur (1921-2018). In his memory, I point you to both his beautiful Jewish Review of Books piece on Sarah Wildman’s Paper Love and something from my own archive: a review of Laqueur’s The Changing Face of Anti-Semitism.

3. And finally: It’s a new month, which means that there’s a new, possibility-and-potential-filled issue of The Practicing Writer newsletter available. If you’re not a subscriber and thus haven’t received it, and/or you haven’t yet caught mention of it elsewhere, you can read and refer to it, all month, online.
