Pre-Shabbat Jewish Literary Links

The words "Jewish Lit Links" are printed over what appears to be a portion of a Torah scroll.
Every Friday, the My Machberet blog presents an array of Jewish-interest links, primarily of the literary variety.

  • Perhaps the next-best-thing to actually having the chance to travel with the PJ Library’s Israel Adventure for children’s book authors: participant Mark Shulman’s photo diary (via Publishers Weekly).
  • The other evening I had the great pleasure to attend the latest National Jewish Book Awards ceremony, where I was able to pick up an advance copy (galley) of a forthcoming YA anthology co-edited by Katherine Locke and Laura Silverman titled It’s a Whole Spiel: Love, Latkes, and Other Jewish Stories. This Atlanta Jewish Times piece profiles Silverman for both the anthology and You Asked for Perfect, her own new novel.
  • Did you miss the Center for Jewish History’s recent staged reading of Chaim Potok’s play Out of the Depths? So did I. Hoping to set aside some time to watch the video recording, soon.
  • Couple of job alerts: The Jewish News of Greater Phoenix is looking for a managing editor and Baltimore Jewish Times seeks an editor.
  • Finally: Next week will bring the March Jewish Book Carnival (which will be hosted right here on the My Machberet blog). Bloggers/reviewers/editors/podcasters: You’ve still got time—until March 12—to send a link! Please read and follow the guidelines provided at Carnival HQ.
  • Shabbat shalom.
