Friday Finds for Writers

Description: closed trunk and text label announcing, "Finds for Writers."
Writing-related resources, news, and reflections to peruse over the weekend (and longer, if you need more time, since I’m embarking on a brief blogging hiatus).

  • One of the bright spots of my week: catching Tracy K. Smith’s final event as U.S. Poet Laureate via the Library of Congress’s livestream. Sharing the stage with Smith: several local/state poets laureate.
  • “I brought the behemoth that is AWP down to my size, and I killed it.” Post-conference reflections from reluctant-to-attend Lorri Robinson McDole (via the Brevity blog).
  • What makes writing groups work? Tips from active groups (2014 article re-upped online by the editors of Writer’s Digest).
  • Much to consider in Margaret Redmond Whitehead’s “Looking for Myself in the Stories of Sib Lit” on The Millions. (“Sib” here = “siblings of people with disabilities.”)
  • And over on the My Machberet blog, there’s a fresh batch of Jewish-lit links.
  • Happy holidays to all who will be observing them this weekend. Catch you back here sometime in the not-too-distant future!
