Midweek Notes from a Practicing Writer

Three quick things.

I returned home to NYC this weekend looking forward to a few quiet weeks to catch up with my massive to-do list and then, BAM! Attack of the Killer Cold! I haven’t had a knockout cold like this for quite some time (which is a good thing). And, look—it’s just a cold! Still, it has slowed me down. I hope to be back to “normal” very soon.

In the meantime:

1. #AmReading a wonderful novel that I’ve been assigned to review. And that’s all I’ll say about it for the moment.

2. An announcement from David Abrams over on The Quivering Pen blog: “It’s time once again for another Big Box o’ Books giveaway. This week, one very lucky reader will win a total of 25 new books. The selection is an eclectic one, with something for just about every adult reader on your list. Some of the books are paperback, some are hardback, but all are brand-spanking new and ready to fill the winner’s shelf. Will it be you?” (One of those 25 books is my PR client John Sibley Williams’s newly published poetry collection As One Fire Consumes Another.) Enter the giveaway by midnight tomorrow, May 9.

3. I didn’t write this one. But I like the message on the latest mug that has been given to me!
Coffee mug bearing text that reads, "A Poem for Morning": "Coffee, coffee, coffee,/Coffee./Coffee,coffee./Everyone shut up./Coffee.
