Midweek Notes from a Practicing Writer

Three quick updates from my desk.

1. Had a great conversation with a synagogue educator this week about a three-session series of events for the spring, a mix of book-group visits and a “publishing your Jewish stories/poems” workshop. (Interested in similar programming? Maybe I can work with your synagogue or organization, too. Email me!)

2. Still (yes!) preparing for the spring semester and the Holocaust Literature class that I’ll be teaching in (gulp) < three weeks!

3. I am in the market for a new desk chair. Any recommendations? (Bonus points for something that’s already assembled.)

an open spiral notebook with a pen resting on a blank page, plus a text label that reads, "Midweek Notes."

For a new desk chair, go to a physical store (say Office Depot or Staples) and sit on chairs till you find one you like in your price range. Then ask if you can buy the floor sample or get them to assemble it. I got my former chair that way (can’t remember who put it together). I just got a new chair (the old one kept sinking) from Amazon. I put it together; it only took about two hours and was not too difficult. My office is cold, so this has microfiber upholstery that warms up quickly. I deliberately passed on mesh or leather.

Good thoughts (though I’m staying out of stores right now unless it’s urgent!). Thanks for the comment.
