Words of the Week

This week, something a little bit different.

Usually, I share others’ words here. Occasionally, I believe, I’ve shared my own.

This week, I’m sharing…a combination?

"Every day I use my voice, in/every place and platform I can,/bearing witness to the attacks and the victims/and the hostages."--ERIKA DREIFUS

Two weeks ago, Second Gentleman Douglas Emhoff offered “Remarks by Second Gentleman Douglas Emhoff at the National Vigil for the Hostages at Adas Israel Congregation.”

Yesterday, the Jewish Book Council published my found poem “Words Are All That I Have,” which uses Emhoff’s remarks for its source text. (Wondering what a “found poem” is? Check this explainer.) The poem is part of the JBC’s “Witnessing” series, “which shares pieces from Israeli authors and authors in Israel, as well as the experiences of Jewish writers around the globe in the aftermath of October 7th.”

Thank you for reading it. And if you’re so inclined, I hope that you’ll share it.
