Every weekend I participate in David Abrams’s “#SundaySentence” project, sharing the best sentence I’ve read during the past week, “out of context and without commentary.”
And having rejected a nationalism of their own, Zionism, for the nationalisms of those around them—having fallen for the lie that Germany and France were the new Zion rather than fighting to reclaim their ancestral homeland, the actual Zion—these Jews had nowhere to go when that lie turned out to be their death warrant.
