Today, something a little bit different.

Today (January 27) is International Holocaust Remembrance Day. I’ve already encountered a number of posts and pieces that I’m still thinking about. That are worth sharing.

But on this topic I’m going to simply share one item that I’m grateful for today: Andrew Silow-Carroll’s expansive article about the newly-launched exhibit And That’s True Too: The Life and Work of Lore Segal at the Leo Baeck Institute in New York.

At the same time, it’s impossible not to be thinking about the fact that for the first time in a very long time, today began without a single Israeli hostage—living or dead—still captive in Gaza.

On that subject, too, there is much being shared that is leaving imprints on my heart and mind. Here, however, I will point you to two brief Substack posts.

The first, which provided my initial encounter with the news yesterday morning, is Vivian Cohen-Leisorek’s “Day 843: Brave Heart.”

And the second, which I read just moments ago, is Peter Himmelman’s “Why We Could Not Rest: The Return of Ran Gvili.”

May the memories of all the dead be for a blessing.

May the bereaved be comforted.

And may survivors heal.
