Three quick things.

1. A nice update: Last Wednesday I mentioned that I’d just sent in my latest contribution to The Blue Card (based on Q4 sales of Quiet Americans: Stories). Shortly thereafter, I received my first (annual) sales/royalties statement for Birthright: Poems, and so I’m delighted to report that I’ve now been able to offer my first book-driven donation to Sefaria, too.

Midweek Notes from a Practicing Writer

Three quick things.

1. A realization: Within the past week, two other writers have recommended me for gigs that I wasn’t aware of/seeking out myself. Both opportunities really are perfect for me. In one case, I’ve already accepted and (more or less) completed the job. In the other, things are looking promising. My point: It was so generous of these other writers to pass along my name, and I am so grateful. Basically, this week I was reminded how much it means to “pay it forward.”

Midweek Notes from a Practicing Writer

Three quick things.

1. Success! Remember the essay-in-progress that I’ve been mentioning lately? It found a home last week. Titled “The Un-Stunned,” it offers some personal reflections on the uptick in antisemitism here in the United States. (On the writing front, it also features a flashback to how I incorporated some similar thoughts in the aftermath of the September 11 attacks into fiction that I was writing at the time.)
