Writing-related resources, news, and reflections to peruse over the weekend.
Calling your attention to a particularly intriguing set of Jewish-lit links over on my other blog today—featuring Salman Rushdie on Philip Roth, an NPR call for Hanukkah-related short fiction and essays, and more.
“As I considered the 120 stories I read for The Best American Short Stories 2018, I thought about this cultural moment and what it means to both write politically and read politically.”—Roxane Gay, in her introduction to this year’s BASS volume (via Literary Hub).
Ruth Franklin peeks into author John Wray’s Brooklyn home, “a cross between an artists’ colony, a co-working space, and a frat house.”
I like looking at rooms writers create in, and although I could never write in the wonderful clutter John Wray surrounds himself with, I can at least take comfort in the fact that creative spirits can flourish anywhere under any conditions. That’s good news for anyone who sets Muse traps in the house, no?
Thanks for the links and the abundance of all things writerly on your blogs. Just wandered here via Lit Hub (also news to me this morning).
