  • From Ruth Franklin: “I’m looking for people who saw the original production of The Diary of Anne Frank on Broadway in 1955-57, to interview for my book about Anne. Was this your parents? Your grandparents?” Contact Ruth as directed within the tweet.
  • “Hey Alma, a digital Jewish culture publication from 70 Faces Media, is looking for a Deputy Managing Editor to join our small, collaborative team. We are looking for someone who understands and is excited by Hey Alma and eager to experiment with new ideas to help push the publication forward.” Note: “This is a full-time, remote position with full-time benefits. The salary is $60,000-$65,000 and working hours will be roughly Monday to Friday, 9-5 EST.”
  • “Lining the walls are more than 3,000 books, ranging from volumes of Talmud to Judy Blume novels to treatises on Zionism. In a beit midrash, or Jewish library and study room, Lehrhaus offers classes on topics ranging from Judeo-Arabic literature to Jewish history in the Roman era, and discussions of Jewish text.” From Gabby Deutch’s Jewish Insider feature on Lehrhaus, a new kosher restaurant, bar, and beit midrash in Somerville, Mass.
  • “For close to half a century the Wingate Literary Prize has been shining a light on the books that best explore Jewish themes and matters by an illustrious list of writers. The winning book must be of literary merit and aimed at the general reader. Our judges are looking forward to being immersed in the wide range of fiction and non-fiction books published over the past year.” Prize confers £4,000. Note that books “must be published between 1 September 2022 and 31 August 2023”; “must be published, distributed or easily available in the UK and Ireland”; and “must be published in English, whether originally or in translation for this publication.” Deadline: July 7. (Cross-posted in The Practicing Writer 2.0.)
  • ICYMI: Another way to view (most of) the titles that I spotlighted on Twitter for May’s dual observance of #JewishAmericanHeritageMonth and #ShortStoryMonth: on Bookshop. (This is my very first list on the platform! As mentioned on my newly-created shop homepage, I’ll be redirecting any affiliate earnings to a rotating selection of [primarily Jewish] book- and literary-focused organizations.)

Shabbat shalom.
