Colby College in Waterville, Maine, is looking for a Faculty Fellow in Creative Writing (Poetry). This is a one-year sabbatical replacement position for “a practicing poet with publications and an MFA or equivalent, beginning September 1, 2007. echolocation, a journal based at the University of Toronto, is looking for “poetry, prose poetry, short fiction, creative non-fiction and interviews with writers.” Unpublished work only. No simultaneous submissions.
“Pay for the Winter 2007 issue is $10/page” (my guess would be that’s Canadian dollars, folks).
This (print) journal accepts only electronic submissions. “We accept submissions year-round; however, the deadline for our Winter 2007 publication is November 10th, 2006.”

Here’s a bit of news I picked up over at Duotrope’s Digest: The King’s English, an international online literary journal publishing novellae, personal essays, book reviews, and poetry, will begin paying its authors as of its Fall 2006 issue. Pay rates will be $20/story or essay, $10/review, and $10/poem (maximum of $20/poet per issue). Check the journal’s Web site for more information.
Poets & Writers, Inc. now invites Missouri-resident poets and fiction writers to enter the 2007 Writers Exchange Contest.
According to the guidelines, additional eligibility requirements include:
1) The writer must have never published a book, or;
2) The writer must have published no more than one full-length book in the genre in which s/he is applying (self-published books do not count), and;
3) The writer must have resided in Missouri for a minimum of two years prior to the date his/her manuscript is submitted.
The winning Missouri poet and winning Missouri fiction writer will each receive a $500 honorarium and a trip to New York City in October 2007 to meet with editors, agents, publishers, and other writers (related expenses will be covered by Poets & Writers and winners will also give a public reading). Winning writers will also receive one-month residencies at the Jentel Artist Residency Program in Wyoming.

There’s no entry fee and the application deadline is December 1, 2006.

There’s a one-year visiting appointment available at Case Western Reserve University (at the rank of lecturer, visiting instructor, or visiting assistant professor) for a creative writer with experience teaching poetry. Expect to teach 5-6 courses for the year.
