Sunday Sentence

In which I participate in David Abrams’s “Sunday Sentence” project, sharing the best sentence I’ve read during the past week, “out of context and without commentary.”

The poll question is faulty because sympathy for Palestinians should not imply hostility to Israel, nor should sympathy for Israel require disregard for the fate of Palestinians.

In some places they say when volcanoes
erupt, they spew out dense and monumental
as stones the skulls of desaparecidos
—the disappeared ones.
