Monday Markets for Writers: No Fees, Paying Gigs

  • The Harriet Beecher Stowe Prize “is awarded biennially to a United States author whose written work makes an impact on a critical social issue in the tradition of Stowe’s Uncle Tom’s Cabin.The Stowe Prize is presented at the Stowe Center’s Big Tent Jubilee, a fundraising event traditionally held in June, following Real Stories of Social Change, a free public program featuring the Prize winner and other activists. Recognition also includes a $10,000 award.” Nomination deadline (self-nominations are acceptable): September 8, 2014. No fee indicated.
  • “The Rusty Toque is an online literary and arts journal from Ontario, Canada. Our editors are situated in London and Toronto. While we serve both cities, we also reach out to the literary and art communities nationally and internationally. We strive to publish diverse, innovative literary writing, reviews, and visual art from Canada and around the world. We welcome submissions from both new and established writers.
