Friday Finds for Writers

Treasure Chest
Writing-related resources, news, and reflections to enjoy over the weekend.

  • Chances are, I would have been profoundly moved by Leland Cheuk’s “I Wanted to Publish a Book Before I Died” even if I didn’t know Leland (from a course on book reviewing that I taught for his MFA program). But since I am acquainted with him, well, you can imagine….
  • One can never have too many sources for free stock photos, so I was glad to discover this resource list from Marian Schembari/The Write Life (with a tip of the hat to Nina Badzin).
  • Terrific profile of M.A. Orthofer, the brainpower behind The Complete Review, which we’ve had on our blogroll (sort of–see the link for The Literary Saloon on the main blog page) for a long time.
  • What’s it like to be a writer-in-residence at the Ernest Hemingway Birthplace Home in Oak Park, Illinois? This interview with Annette Gendler will give you some idea.
  • And along with quite a lot of other commentary following the passing of Justice Antonin Scalia last weekend, attention has been paid to his literary style. May he rest in peace.
  • Have a good weekend.

    1. That list of free stock photo sources is excellent. Many thanks for the pointer.

        A pleasure, Cathy!
