Midweek Notes from a Practicing Writer

Three quick things:

Journal cover for SHIRIM.

1. I am happy to report that I have met a number of recent deadlines. (Patting myself on the back.) Stay tuned for links to some published pieces.

2. Also this week: I received a contributor copy of the latest issue of Shirim: A Jewish Poetry Journal. I’m grateful to guest editor Carol V. Davis for asking me to contribute and for including my poem “Ode to a Rescuer,” which was published originally on the Haaretz website.

3. The latest “recent read” that I’ve added to my ongoing list is Patrice Gopo’s All the Colors We Will See: Reflections on Barriers, Brokenness, and Finding Our Way. Read a bit more about it on that “brief book reviews” page, and catch up with the rest of my list.

Erika! Congratulations on publication of “Ode to a Rescuer.” Very exciting. And I look forward to links to some of your other published work. I always enjoy reading.

Thank you also for mentioning my book. I’m appreciative, and I’m glad you enjoyed.

    Thank you both very much!

  4. Mazel tov! I’ve not heard of Shirim, so thanks for that. I have tried in the past to contact Carol Davis to interview her for The Whole Megillah but wasn’t successful in finding her contact info.

    1. Erika Dreifus says:

I’ll pass along your message, Barbara.

  5. Cheryl says:

    Congratulations! Always welcome news.
