Midweek Notes from a Practicing Writer

I’m just back from my first visit to the Association for Jewish Studies annual conference, held this year in Boston.

Which means that I have a lot to catch up on, and a lot to follow up on, and won’t write a lengthy post today.

But, pictured above, you’ll find one book (left) that I purchased; one book (right) that I won (as part of a team that tied for second place at Monday night’s trivia competition!); and in the middle, a teaser for a book that I’m looking forward to catching when it’s published in 2019.

More soon!

  1. Wish I could have gone, but I had to write a paper for my PhD program and am in the throes of final grading for the six courses I taught on three campuses this semester. Would you say attendance is worth the expense? I’m not sure where it is next year.

I think that next year’s conference will be in San Diego. Washington after that, I believe. Then Chicago. I would recommend attending if/when you can. I believe that there may be some discounts for grad students? Maybe even conference stipends? (I’m no longer a grad student so I was simply grateful for the other elements of the tiered registration pricing.)
