Midweek Notes from a Practicing Writer

Three quick updates from my writing practice.

1. Sent off a pitch for a longreads piece on Monday morning. This pitch seemed to take forever for me to put together. Now, I wait for a response.

2. I’m preparing the September issue of The Practicing Writer 2.0. Which reminds me: As I mentioned in the last issue, I’m discontinuing the newsletter’s “Featured Article/Lessons Learned” segment. But I would like to include brief “success stories” from subscribers for whom the newsletter, or my blog(s), or the other resources on this website, have proved to be fruitful for their own writing practices. Share yours!

3. Things are definitely not “back to normal” here in New York, but over the weekend I finally returned some New York Public Library books that I’d had at home since March and picked up some others (a few picture books for study/inspiration, in keeping with Project Erika-Becomes-A-Kidlit-Author) that I had arranged to fetch at one of the newly-opened “Grab and Go” locations. Seemed like a milestone of some kind.

And what’s new at your desk?

an open spiral notebook with a pen resting on a blank page, plus a text label that reads, "Midweek Notes."
