Confession: It’s been a distracting week! For the past several days, however, I’ve had the joy and relief of immersing myself in a re-read of my friend Rachel Hall’s Heirlooms: Stories (I’m leading a book-club discussion of the book in a couple of days). There are so, so many gorgeous sentences in this collection. I simply couldn’t choose one to share.
