Midweek Notes from a Practicing Writer

Three quick items from my desk.

1. Just submitted my first conference-paper proposal in…a long time (for an October presentation).

2. Inspired by a fabulous webinar with publishers of Jewish kidlit (thank you, SCBWI Israel!) last Thursday, I’ve spent much of my time since then engaged with (revising) my current picture-book project.

3. And I’ve also been drafting the July issue of The Practicing Writer 2.0. It should be out next Wednesday, which means that you still have plenty of time to take advantage of info in the current edition.

an open spiral notebook with a pen resting on a blank page, plus a text label that reads, "Midweek Notes."

I just graduated with a. masters in creative writing. Where are there good places to publish my short stories?

Congratulations! There are lots of “good” places! I routinely point out open venues in my Monday Markets blog posts and within my monthly newsletters, and you’ll find even more resources available on this page of my website: https://www.erikadreifus.com/resources/where-to-publish/. And evaluating which places are “good” for you is something I’ve tried to help out with in this article: https://lithub.com/13-questions-to-ask-before-submitting-to-a-literary-journal/. Good luck!
