Midweek Notes from a Practicing Writer
Three quick updates from my desk.
1. Just sent in a commissioned poem. Now I wait for editorial response. Hope they like it!
2. I’ve also just pitched my first review for a book that’s being published next fall. (I haven’t written for the target venue before, and they require a long lead time.) Again, hoping for a positive response.
3. Immensely grateful to Tzivia MacLeod and the SCBWI Israel team for a terrific three-hour event last Sunday on “Sharing Israel’s Stories.” One favorite segment: a breakout session with generative #kidlit writing (facilitated by Pam Moritz and her prompts!).

Escape Route, is set in NYC during the 1960s, and is told by a teenager, Zach, a first generation son of Holocaust survivors, and NY Mets fan, who becomes obsessed with the Vietnam War and with finding an escape route for his family for when he believes the US will round up and incarcerate its Jews.
