#SundaySentence

Every weekend I participate in David Abrams’s “#SundaySentence” project, sharing the best sentence I’ve read during the past week, “out of context and without commentary.”

“So we must work to overturn the false narratives of tyrants, populists, and fools by telling better stories than they do.”

Source: Salman Rushdie, quoted in Suzanne Nossel, “Salman Rushdie’s Entire Life Has Been an Act of Defiance” (Guardian)

Against a plain background, the hashtag #SundaySentence appears.

Oh gee…thanks…the latest I read is that he’s off the ventilator and is “on the road to recovery.”

    1. Erika Dreifus says:

Yes, still critical, but off the ventilator, thank Gd.

  2. I remember when this all first started, way back, Susan Sontag wrote about the fatwa against him and she addressed him as “dear Salman…” and that has alway stuck with me.

That is a wonderful sentence, Erika. Thank you for sharing that here, and for all that you do for writers.

Thank you for your kind comment, Kirie.
