#SundaySentence

Every weekend I participate in David Abrams’s “#SundaySentence” project, sharing the best sentence I’ve read during the past week, “out of context and without commentary.”

I’ll be honest (and, in adding “commentary,” rule-breaking): For the past 30+ hours I’ve been reading little beyond news/accounts from Israel. (If you follow me on Twitter, you’ve may have noticed that that’s all I’ve been tweeting about, too.) My heart is broken, and my brain isn’t doing too well, either.

But before all of that, I was making my way through Direct Sunlight, Christine Sneed’s latest story collection. And I remember that this sentence made me laugh out loud. For that reason, in this moment, I’m citing it as my #SundaySentence.

P.S. I guess this makes me the monkey’s uncle.

Against a plain background, the hashtag #SundaySentence appears.
