Finds for Writers
Each week (typically Fridays), the Practicing Writing blog offers writing and publishing resources, news, and reflections to peruse over the weekend.
- A tip from @APStylebook: “When a month is used with a specific date, abbreviate only Jan., Feb., Aug., Sept., Oct., Nov. and Dec. Spell out when using alone, or with a year alone. At the end of February, we enter the months with shorter names that aren’t abbreviated: March, April, May, June and July.”
- Making its way across the literary internet this week (and justifiably so): Rachel Kadish’s marvelous essay on “The Most Important Writing Exercise I’ve Ever Assigned” (gift link provided).
- You’ll find an extra-abundant set of Jewish Literary Links posted over on My Machberet this week.
- For a bit of comedy: “Really Hard to Understand and Even Harder to Follow Submission Guidelines for Our Literary Journal” (Lori D’Angelo for Lit Mag News.)
- And by this time next week, the March issue of The Practicing Writer 2.0 will have gone out to subscribers. (It’s never too late to join us—the newsletter is free!) Be sure you haven’t missed any of the still-open opportunities listed in the February newsletter as well as those posted weekly here on Practicing Writing.
Wishing everyone a good weekend.
