Finds for Writers

Each week (typically Fridays), the Practicing Writing blog offers writing and publishing resources, news, and reflections to peruse over the weekend.
- “The Universe is listening. Always. So, dream big, wait for the magic to unfold.” I loved the latest update from Hidden Timber Books publisher Christi Craig.
- PEN America celebrates the release of Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich, Washington Post columnist Vladimir Kara-Murza, Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty editor Alsu Kurmasheva, and artist Sasha Skochilenko, among others, from Russian prisons, while continuing “to urge the release of all writers and artists unjustly imprisoned in Russia.”
- Speaking of PEN America: They’re soon offering free webinars on “Bystander Intervention: How to Be an Ally When You Witness Online Abuse” and “How Fact-Checking Works – And Why It Matters.”
- Not unrelated: David Mikics’s “The New Yorker‘s Fact Crisis” (Tablet) reminded me of that magazine’s failure to address a matter I brought to their attention nearly eight years ago.
- This week’s Jewish literary links on My Machberet spotlight an array of current/upcoming writing calls and competitions.
Have a good weekend, everyone.
