Each week (typically Fridays), the Practicing Writing blog offers writing and publishing resources, news, and reflections to peruse over the weekend.

  • In which Katie Hale offers a personal slant on—as well as relevant links to—the AI/LibGen news that you’ve quite possibly been noticing making the rounds. (And fwiw: My own books don’t turn up in the database, but five of my published writings, in poetry and prose, are there.)
  • Speaking of my books: One day, I hope that there may be audio versions for each of them. At the moment, if that’s going to happen, I’ll need to rely on Christine Sneed’s “DIY Audio Book Redux” post on Substack to get me started.
  • Check out the latest Jewish-lit links on My Machberet—including a reminder about an important (and free!) upcoming virtual event for allies in the literary/arts community.
  • April begins next week—which means, among other things, that National Poetry Month will be soon upon us. Just in time: The Atlantic presents its take on “the 25 most consequential collections from the past 25 years” (and yes, that’s a gift link). I haven’t had a chance to look through it yet. (That’s what the weekend is for, right?)
  • Also coming soon: The April issue of The Practicing Writer 2.0. Which means that it’s time for one last check of the March issue to ensure that you haven’t missed anything of interest. (And perhaps to upgrade to a paid subscription while the early-adopter discount applies, if you’re so inclined?)
