Jewish Literary Links

Toward the end of each week, the My Machberet blog presents a collection of links, drawn primarily from the world of Jewish books and writing.
- New children’s books for the High Holidays, as previewed by Penny Schwartz for JTA.
- This week on Ask Haviv Anything, Haviv Rettig Gur hosts Dara Horn for a discussion of the ideas underpinning Horn’s soon-to-be-published The Final Solution to the Jewish Question: A Love Story for the Living.
- The UK-based Jewish Renaissance magazine is advertising an internship for 2026-27: “Your commitment will be 20 hours per week for one year and your working pattern (which may occasionally include evenings and weekends) will be mutually agreed with the Deputy Editor at the start of each month. Be prepared to allow for some flexibility depending on the point in the editorial cycle and what JR events are coming up. As an employee, you will be paid the London living wage (as of summer 2026 this is set at £14.80/h) plus on-costs of tax and national insurance. Your salary will be paid in arrears at the end of each month. We are open to doing this either as PAYE (as part of which you will also receive statutory sick pay, and 20 days holiday plus Jewish festivals) or as a self-employed freelance contractor, as per your preference.” Deadline: August 31.
- From Judith magazine: an interview in which Shai Davidai, author of the soon-to-be published American Intellectual Antisemitism, describes “his transformation from mild-mannered professor to ‘radical moderate.'”
- And from The Jewish Book Garden: an introduction to the Jewish Kidlit Mavens Facebook group.
Shabbat shalom.
