Midweek Notes from a Practicing Writer
Something This Writer Has in Common with Prince Harry
ICYMI: Britain’s Prince Harry recently made his podcast debut. (He did so as part of an ongoing collaboration with his brother and his sister-in-law—aka the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge—to promote mental health and de-stigmatize the subject; I applaud all that they’re doing.)
As it happens, I’ll be making my own first podcast appearance soon enough!
A few days ago I finally set a date with Elad Nehorai to record an episode for his fab new HevriaCast, the focus of which is “talking with awesome creative Jews.” Elad has said that I’m welcome to suggest questions/discussion topics for our chat. Is there anything in particular you’d like us to cover? (I’ll admit that I’m a tad nervous about this—assuming that Prince Harry isn’t about to offer me any advice, do any of you have podcast-guest experience you’d care to share to help prepare me?)
One Item Checked Off the To-Do List
I’m happy to report that I have finally finished and submitted the residency application that I’ve been mentioning here. (Yes, it felt really great to hit that button on Submittable.) Now, I wait.
Ahead of Yom HaShoah: Latest Quarterly Contribution to The Blue Card
This week will bring Yom HaShoah (Holocaust Memorial Day) in Israel and throughout the Jewish Diaspora. So it’s an especially fitting time for me to have sent in my Q1 contribution, based on the latest sales of Quiet Americans, to The Blue Card. Thanks so much to everyone who continues to purchase the book and thus supports The Blue Card along with me.
I’m excited for you! Just be yourself and those princes have got nothing on you.
I know so many “awesome creative Jews” that I wouldn’t know where to start.
So kind of you, Petrea. Thank you!
