Final Reminder: Jewish Fiction Writers’ Conference

This weekend, I completed the handout I’ve prepared for my presentation on “Publishing Your Jewish Short Stories,” slated for Sunday, March 15, at the Jewish Fiction Writers’ Conference right here in New York City. It’s a pretty good handout, if I do say so, myself! And it can be yours—if you come to the conference! Registration continues until March 9. Details here.

    Erika,

I hope you will share your handout after the conference, for those of us on the West coast writing Jewish themed short stories. I’d love to check it out! I’ve submitted my stories to non-Jewish journals (e.g. The Golem of Orla Shalom in ZYZZYVA) but would be very curious to learn about other venues or suggestions.

    I enjoy your blog.

David, thank you so much for your comment. And congratulations on ZYZZYVA–that’s an impressive credit.

Which brings me to a point I’ll make in my spoken presentation: “Jewish” short stories can certainly be published in magazines and journals that aren’t themselves specifically “Jewish.” My own stories have appeared in a mix of general interest, “Jewish,” and other specialty publications (one was specifically for historical fiction, for example). In the handout, however, I profile a number of “Jewish” magazines and journals.

The handout is 10 pages long, so I am unlikely to post it all, but I’ll probably share some snippets, here and/or on my other blog.

    Thanks again for your comment.

Look forward to seeing what you share. Have a great time at the conference.
