Monday brings the weekly batch of no-fee competitions/contests, paying submission calls, and jobs for those of us who write (especially those of us who write fiction, poetry, and creative nonfiction).
Interfictions is receiving submissions until August 31. “We are looking for work that blurs the lines between genres (contemporary realism, mystery, historical, fantasy, speculative fiction, westerns), as well as pieces that bridge fiction and nonfiction, prose and poetry, and other categories.” Pays: $.10/word for fiction and nonfiction; $30/poem. “We’re also interested in interviews with boundary-crossing artists. Please query if you know someone you’d like to interview, and let us know why you think this person’s work would interest us. We seek interviews of 2000-3000 words, and pay a flat rate of $50/interview.”
“Jaggery, a DesiLit arts and literature journal, connects South Asian diasporic writers and homeland writers; we also welcome non-South Asians with a deep and thoughtful connection to South Asian countries, who bring their own intersecting perspectives to the conversation.” Current submission period ends September 8. Pays: $25.
From the Bent Agency: “We are looking for a savvy social media assistant for one of our authors. This person will work closely with the author managing digital content, engaging followers, and promoting book releases and events.” NB: “This is a paid position, part-time and remote.” (hat tip: @EvelynSomers13)
Job in Seattle: “Grist is an online news site that uses smarts and humor to shine a light on the big green issues changing our world.” And they’re seeking a Social Media Manager.
