Words of the Week

“I read web and social media and it’s shocking how liberal Jews (I consider myself one, recall) so quick to righteously protest the sufferings of just about everyone else in the world, rarely have expressed any sorrow for the knifing of Jewish children. Sadly they seem to have been bullied by the BDS types, by the social media sewer of anti-Semitism, the Shylockization of Netanyahu. By the ‘moral equivalence’ ‘cycle of violence’ narrative. Can’t feel bad about murdered Jews if a right wing government’s in power. To the extent that if a liberal Jew speaks up for the murdered at a dinner party he is suddenly Sheldon Adelson. Or the Jew in the Annie Hall dinner scene abruptly finding himself clothed in Hasidic garb (not that there’s anything wrong with that).”

Well gee whiz, Ron Rosenbaum, I am glad you have finally woken up to reality.
The next step would be to imagine what your life, and the lives of other American Jews, would be like in a world where Israel has been vaporized.
Perhaps after you begin to consider the dis-topic ramifications, you will be a little more willing to stick your self-described liberal, atheistic neck out in public and begin to “express sorrow for the knifing of Jewish children”.
The choice is still yours. What are YOU going to do, NOW?

I know that passions run high on these topics. But I would like to ask everyone who comments here on the blog to be respectful. I’m troubled here, for instance, by the possibly pejorative implications of the terms “liberal” and “atheistic.” Thanks to everyone for keeping this a civil space.
