Friday Finds for Writers

Writing-related resources, news, and reflections to enjoy over the weekend.

  • From Publishers Weekly: “Another year, another slew of publishing and literary events. Some are in the distant future and others are mere days away, but, like last year, 2018 is full of conferences, fairs, and festivals for the industry insider and rabid reader alike. Here’s our roundup of some of the big ones.”
  • I’ve been happy to see Karen Craigo returning to blog posts over on Better View of the Moon. Especially resonant (and, at this time, reassuring): “Against Dailiness: Time and Attention in Poetry.”
  • I may be a bit late to the news of his appointment, but I want to congratulate Writer’s Digest’s new EiC, Tyler Moss.
  • ICYMI when I shared this on Twitter: a fascinating profile of author Leïla Slimani by Lauren Collins; an American edition of Slimani’s Chanson Douce, translated by Sam Taylor, will be out soon.
  • And remember: If it’s Friday, you’ll find a fresh set of #JewLit links over on My Machberet. (Sadly, the biggest news there this week is the passing of author Aharon Appelfeld).
  • Have a wonderful weekend, everyone. Stay warm!
