Pre-Shabbat Jewish Literary Links

The words "Jewish Lit Links" are printed over what appears to be a portion of a Torah scroll.
Every Friday, the My Machberet blog presents an array of Jewish-interest links, primarily of the literary variety.

  • It’s been a big week for Jewish literary awards, with announcements of the latest winners and finalists for the National Jewish Book Awards and the news that this year’s Edward Lewis Wallant Award will go to Mourning by Eduardo Halfon (trans. Lisa Dillman and Daniel Hahn).
  • It’s also been a big week for me, with a new poem (inspired by Numbers 11) on the 929 website.
  • The latest episode of the Book of Life podcast features conversation with four faculty members from “Beyond the Holocaust and Holidays: Who Are We and What Are We Writing?”, an upcoming Jewish children’s literature symposium.
  • ICYMI: a preview of some forthcoming Jewish fiction, nonfiction, and poetry.
  • Something I’m hoping to have a quiet hour to sit with this weekend: Amos Oz’s final lecture, with English subtitles.
  • Shabbat shalom.
