Midweek Notes from a Practicing Writer
Three quick updates from my desk.
1. Speaking of my desk: At long last, I’m beginning to plan a “refresh” for my home office. And I’m contemplating all kinds of desk possibilities. I’m interested in surface space and storage, but I’m also interested in learning more about adjustable/standing options. I’d love insights/recommendations from other practicing writers. Please share (with links, when possible) in comments. (And if you have the perfect, ergonomic, assembled or easy-to-assemble desk chair to recommend as well, feel free to add that!)
2. Turned in the essay that was due Monday, and my editor confirmed receipt. Awaiting edits.
3. Remember that #MagazineCoverChallenge I shared with you in last week’s “Finds for Writers”? This is Allison K. Williams’s brilliant idea: “If Writer-You were a magazine, what would the cover look like? What photo represents an aspect of your writing tone, genre or material? What topics from your work AND your life would be featured articles?”
I went ahead and developed my own cover. (Thanks, Canva, for having “magazine covers” available when I went searching among your templates.) Here it is!

Working on this little project was a fun way to spend some time. Highly recommend trying it out for yourself!

Fun cover, Erika. Some nice wordplay that does not distract from, or muddle the meaning.
Definitely a fun diversion. Try it yourself!
Done, years ago. Here is a (long) link to one of my books. I created the cover in Lightwave 3D. My picture is on the table, listed as missing.
