Midweek Notes from a Practicing Writer
Three quick updates from my desk.
1. I’m looking forward to tomorrow’s session—the first of three—as a “Virtual Writer-in-Residence” with a Connecticut synagogue. On tap for tomorrow: discussing stories from Quiet Americans.
2. I’ve now received two rejections for my kidlit manuscript (well, three, if you count one from an agent). On the plus side, both publishers’ rejections have included substantial, constructive feedback. So, I have Things to Consider as I contemplate revisions.
3. But enough about me! (Truly—there’s just not that much to tell you!) How about you tell me something about your own practice/work-in-progress? Share a “note” from your desk, in the comments section.

I have a deadline to revise a manuscript going under contract. But it’s difficult to find the time to hunker down and get in the flow when the little urgencies of the day scratch at my ankles.
I have faith in your ability to meet the deadline, Barb!
Three poems accepted to a New Jersey anthology! (Thought you’d appreciate the NJ connection.) Wish I could say I got the sub call from you, but I keep trying all your suggestions.
You’re becoming quite the poet, Liz! Many congratulations!
I was invited and honored to read my poem, “The Little People,” during the David Labkovski Project’s Yom Hashoah program. It is now archived in their online 2021 Commemorative Journal – https://www.davidlabkovskiproject.org
My piece was based upon one of Labkovski’s beautiful paintings that capture Jewish life in Eastern Europe lost in the Holocaust.
I’ll check it out! Congratulations.
Lately I got laurel “the finalist” for my screenplay (featured movie) at Vancouver International Film Festival. If you like good movies I am inviting you to http://www.totalitaryzmy.pl where you could watch for free movies using platform One Stage from April 15 to 18 2021 after registration. Enjoy!
Congratulations, Walerian!
